Here at Divergents, we highlight artists who face challenges with the neurotypical world and then explore that experience in their art.

For many people with a minority neurological profile -- dyslexia, autism or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder -- the world is a challenge. The challenge may be getting up and knowing that when you walk out the door you will be ridiculed and disrespected at every turn. It may be simple challenges like balancing a checkbook, or the cold lifelong battle, facing the structural discrimination of a culture that targets diference. Many of us turn to the arts. It maybe acting, music or visual art. The art world is more accepting of divergents. Everyone is welcome because we are all equal in the wish to create, and express and capture the unnameable. In art we are all equal, humbled before the blank page.
