Peek a Boo by Simon Collinson

I see you,
but do you see me?
maybe not,
cos i’m a chameleon,
blending into
backgrounds,
playing a part,
all my life,
a lifetime spent,
ducking and diving,
evading and eluding,
your gazes,
with perfect mimicry,
the real me’s
been on the run,
keeping secrets,
well concealed,
behind,
the masks I wear,
camouflage is my cloak and shield,
in my time I've played every part,
save my own,
sinister shadows,
monsters and fools
even an odd hero or two,
in life’s hurley burly
it all helps,
keep my true
identity
hidden from
your view.
