The Uncanny Valley

by Eden Van Leeuwen

I look like you, I talk like you, I walk like you.
My mimicry is flawless.
Though every time, you see through me.
The shift of your feet, the flicker of your eyes, the twitch of your fingers,
you wish to run from me, kill me.
It does not matter how I leave,
you just want me gone from your sight.
You know I am not like you.
What am I missing to be like you?
I want to leave the uncanny valley.
I know I am human, but you can’t see that
all you see is a creature to forget.
Is it wrong to live, is it wrong to exist, is it wrong to be.
I don’t understand.
How did I become a creature of the uncanny valley.
